Along with my Co author and designer Craig Gosselin, we are excited to offer and facilitate these Transit Education courses for you.

I was fortunate to have worked 35 years for a great transit agency in Vancouver BC CMBC. I worked as a scheduler for 17 years and the last 9 as scheduling supervisor. CMBC is as large transit agency that operates over 1100 peak vehicles and employs over 3000 Operators.

I was the lead on many big projects, one of which was the 2010 Olympic Games. One of the big challenges CMBC faced following the Olympics games was the extra operators that were hired. These operators were to be kept on after the Olympics with the service improvements that were to be implemented. This did not happen due to budget cuts so CMBC had to mitigate the cost of the surplus operators rather than layoffs. CMBC received the first Trapeze Innovation Award for how we were able to keep these operators on but absorb the cost. You can you tube CMBC wins first Trapeze Innovation Award to view the details.

The last 3 years at CMBC I was tasked with reviewing CMBC costs as it applied to Schedule Building and Runcutting. The goal was to find methods by which CMBC could be more efficient without greatly effecting the service. Three years later we had cut the CMBC budget by 30M. This was accomplished by some innovative approaches. These techniques will be discussed throughout the Fixed Route courses. The Schedule Building and Runcut/Roster Efficiencies courses dive into additional techniques.

My last 5 years have been spent working for Trapeze Software as an application support analyst where I had the pleasure of working with 100’s of schedulers across North America assisting them with using the software and providing some guidance, especially to newer schedulers.

I look forward to working with you as you enhance your transit knowledge
