Rostering is the process of “grouping” daily operator runs into weekly run packages. Rosters have many benefits for an organization, such as lower costs, more effective utilization of resources, fairer workloads, and distribution of shifts. The scheduler has completed the tasks of schedule building and runcutting. The final component of the cycle is Rostering. Transit Scheduling: Advanced Rostering course is a deep dive into the various methods agencies use to create the weekly assignments for operators. This is an instructor lead course that will advance your understanding of transit rostering, using a hands-on approach. This course teaches:

  1. Fully “packaged” work with all runs and days off assigned for each roster
  2. Partial Rosters – Weekdays “packaged” only. Operators select Saturday and Sunday work (if required) separately to complete their weekly roster.
  3. Cafeteria-style.  Operators select work daily and choose the days off that will complete the assignment. This approach will have a predetermined number of days off that can be selected.

and it approaches the topics as it explains:

  1. Weekly Assignments of 5 days of work with 2 consecutive days off.
  2. Weekly Assignments of 5 days of work with 2 consecutive days off and split days off.
  3. Weekly Assignments of 4 days of work with 3 consecutive days off.
  4. Weekly Assignments of 4 days of work with 3 consecutive days off and split days off.
